How Much Does it Cost?
Choosing the best rated sperm bank is difficult. While there are some that may be better than others, most reputable sperm banks offer similar services.
We are frequently contacted by donor offspring looking for their donors. While you can absolutely use our site to search for your sperm donor, your best option is to go straight to the sperm bank your parent (s) used. Sperm banks will have a contact policy, both for their anonymous and open donors, so it is important to ask about it.
We receive a number of emails from visitors looking to ship, buy, donate or do any number of other things with sperm. However, we want to remind you that we are not a sperm bank.
One of the most important indicators of sperm quality is the number of motile (fast-moving) sperm. Normal semen will contain both motile and non-motile sperm, but the more motile a sperm is, the better chance it has of making it through the long journey to the egg.
Most reputable sperm banks have a guaranteed minimum amount of sperm, depending on the type of vial (IUI or ICI), how it is prepared (e.g., washed, analyzed) and how it will be used (e.g.,IVF, home insemination, ICSI).
Getting through the dreaded Two Week Wait is tough - all you have to think about is whether or not you've got a little person growing inside you and the wait can cause all kinds of emotional stress. Here are some ideas for keeping the TWW from ruling your life:
1) Stay occupied. The busier you are, the easier it is not to think about pregnancy, children and etc. If you're staying home, watch movies, start a blog, read your books - anything you can do to keep your mind from wandering.
2) Don't do any extreme sports or activities.
We recently received a number of questions on how to choose a sperm donor. It is indeed one of the most difficult choices to make. You have to figure out what qualities you're looking for in a donor - medical history, physical characteristics, psychological issues, etc.
Here are five of the best ideas we found around the web:
This is a very common question we get. One important reason you may consider ordering your vials earlier than later is that your preferred donor may not be available in a few months. Some sperm banks do offer courtesy holds, but usually for no more than a few days.
There is always a chance that, if you choose a donor and go to order him a couple months later, his vials may all be gone. You can always call the sperm bank you're using and ask them about available inventory for that donor, but again, it is no guarantee he will be available down the line.
If you're a sperm donor looking for a sperm bank in NYC or the New York area, you can check out any of these sperm banks and their donor programs.
If you're looking for sperm donors for donor insemination, keep in mind restrictions New York has.
A handful of sperm banks are licensed to ship to New York, but not all of them, so just make sure to ask if they're licensed to ship to NYC if you choose a sperm bank outside of New York state. Two excellent choices are Reproductive Resources, Inc. and California Cryobank.
If you're looking for a sperm bank in Michigan, there aren't many choices. However, there is one sperm bank, International Cryogenics, that may be a good option. You should also check out fertility clinics in your city and ask them who they recommend/use.
