A recent visitor asked us this question, and we thought it deserved an answer. The simple answer is no, it does not cost money to donate sperm. Rather, if you are a potential sperm donor and a sperm bank accepts you into their program, you will get paid.
However, a sperm bank doesn't normally reimburse you for things like gas to get to and from the sperm bank, or for your time beyond the payment they give you each time you donate (assuming you are approved and enter their program).
Some banks will also offer other incentives and bonuses, like movie tickets, gift cards and the like. So besides the gas it costs you to drive to the sperm bank, it won't cost you a thing.
You also get other great perks, like a full physical exam, genetic screening, semen analysis and disease testing, all of which can be super important, now and in the future.
Either way, you have nothing to lose by checking into becoming a sperm donor, and a lot to gain, even if you don't ultimately make it into a sperm bank's donor program.
