I was talking about donor insemination with my pastor; I'm worried about bringin a child into this world who will be without a mother and father and am having trouble reconciling that with donor insemination. But then I think about how badly I want a child, and wonder if I'm inherently a selfish being for thinking that way. Is it wrong to deprive a child of a father?
My pastor said that this is my decision, and he will support me, but that ultimately the church holds to the position that two parents are better than one parent. He said the standard biblical family unit is the ideal and while many families fall short of this ideal, it doesn't negate the ideal itself.
He said my best route it think about it and pray that God will reveal His will to me regarding the situation; this is an issue between me and God and I have to accept the spiritual responsiblity for my choice. Needless to say, I still feel conflicted, but I am taking his advice and praying the Lord will show me the way. God bless!
