My husband and I are dealing with the unfortunate issue of Azoospermia, which is basically the absence of any sperm in a man's testes. It has made us much more aware of male-factor infertility and I thought it would be nice to start off by sharing a little of our back story.
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years with his sperm. About a year ago we we decided to seek help and both got workups; all of my lady bits are working fine and my tests were normal, but my husband's semen is devoid of any sperm.
After a battery of tests they found a few (!) sperm but none were motile, and there didn’t appear to be any that were normal. Other tests showed no sperm; apparently he has a defect in production, which pretty much means we'll never be able to conceive with his sperm.
So, to cut a realllly long story short, after a lot of heartache and soul searching, we decided to try the sperm donor route and are more nervous and anxious than excited, but we'll see what happens.
