So in my searches, I find that people use "single mother" and "{single mother by choice" interchangeably, especially the faith-based sites I've seen.
They seem to define single motherhood as any circumstances that happen to people, previously in relationships, beyond their control. This usually implies widowed, divorced, abandoned, leaving because of divorce and everything in between. Except making a conscious choice to have a child using donor semen.
Honestly, if God didn't want single mothers by choice, we wouldn't see so many successful women choosing, and having, babies on their own. God loves us and because He does, allows us to make our own choices and live with the consequences, good or bad.
