There are a number of sperm donation locations across the U.S. Finding a sperm bank is easier for those looking for donor sperm than those looking to become sperm donors. Overall, there are just over 25 sperm banks in the U.S. as well as a number of fertility clinics who handle sperm donation in-house.
We recently recieved a question about Los Angeles sperm banks. While there are several sperm banks in California, there is only one major sperm bank in Los Angeles proper, California Cryobank.
Unfortunately, you can't see photos of sperm donors on SpermCenter because most sperm banks don't offer photos of donors for free. It wouldn't be fair to show some photos and not others, nor would it be allowed by the majority of the sperm banks available.
This is why SpermCenter's sperm donor profiles link directly to their original profile on the sperm bank's website. It makes it easy to see your donor's original profile once you select them.
There are websites that act as "matchmaking" sites for individuals searching for donors, but it is in your best interest to be very, very wary of these sites. They are completely unregulated and don't have to abide by the regulations the FDA requires of sperm banks.
There are no restrictions on the donors, nor any regulations for disease screening, genetic testing, medical exams, three generation medical histories and all the other criteria sperm banks have for their donors.
Q: Can I change my username on SpermCenter? I noticed my user handle shows up in Google.
A: Yes, you can. We can do this for you, or you can do this on your own by going to "My Account" > "Edit" and changing your screen name. If you'd like us to do it for you, please send us your current user ID and the user ID you want to change to, and we can do it for you.
How much does it cost to freeze sperm? This depends on where you have it done and how long you need to store it. It can cost anywhere from ~$200 for 6 months to $2o00+ for 10 years.
The question "how much does sperm donation pay" is a common one we get here at SpermCenter.
The easiest answer is that it depends on the bank. Some banks, like California Cryobank, pay $100 per donation, while others like Fairfax Cryobank may pay more or less depending on whether there is a bonus involved, whether they pay up front, etc.
Bonuses may be offered for things like baby or adult photos, and you may get more if you decide to become an open donor (which usually means you allow your offspring to contact you and get access to medical information when they turn 18).

Sperm donor requirements vary from sperm bank to sperm bank, but there are some general criteria that most sperm banks follow. These include:
Couples in Turkey who need help to conceive through donor insemination are now no longer allowed to go abroad to get help, according to new legislation introduced by the country's health ministry. Artificial insemination has been banned in Turkey for several years; however, the government is cracking down and appears to have determined to end the practice altogether.
Sperm donors with photos vary from sperm bank to sperm bank. While some only have baby photos, other may have adult photos as well.
However, there are alternatives to finding out if your donor is a good match physically for you and your partner or spouse.
Many banks do something called photo matching, where you give the client consultant a picture of you or your spouse or partner, and they match you with a donor who resembles you (or partner or spouse) physically.
